Tukaram, Poem 3626

You have made yourself a learned man, and
you read the purana; but you do not know
who you are. Like an ass carrying a load, you
turn over the leaves of manuscripts; but, good sir,
you do not know the secret of the true teacher.
Tuka, the peasant’s son, knows nothing about the
scriptures; one thing alone he does not forget—the
feet of Vitthoba.
