Tukaram, Poem 3602

Glow-worm may puff himself up in the presence of the sun, but the world bears witness to both of them. No one can confer beauty on himself, though he may put on airs and parade his own magnificence. If a man drinks whey and boasts of the strength he derives from it, his want of self-restraint betrays the poor diet he lives upon. Tuka says, Fie on the kindness of the thaga; after displaying it, he cuts the traveller’s throat at his ease.
