Tukaram, Poem 3592

He who swears falsely in court, he is a sinner in
the worst degree. He will dwell, at the
head of his own family, in the boiling cauldron of
hell. Tuka says, He was born to bring death on
his family.
A plot of land presented by one’s forefathers,
if any man ask such a thing back through
greed,—though he be entitled to the place of honour
amongst men,—he will suffer surpassing penalties
in Yama’s dwelling place. With his family on
both sides, he will enter the horrors of hell. For
millions of ages, says Tuka, he will encounter bars
of glowing iron.
