Tukaram, Poem 3572

A man whose nose has been cut off is startled to see himself in a glass; he turns aside his face in shame.
Even so is a man appalled by his own inner qualities.
A thief prefers dark nights, and is annoyed when he sees the moon rise.
Tuka says, Mankind are luckless creatures, O God!
