Tukaram, Poem 3561

You may dig a trench round a neem-tree, and
fill it with sugar; it will not cease to produce
its own natural fruit. Even so, the mind of the
wicked is defiled; he vomits up what is best for
him. Touch a potsherd with the magic-stone; it
will not change its own nature. Tuka says, Do
not bamboos grow close to sandal-trees?
