Tukaram, Poem 3524

To do a good thing is our welfare; we must
exert all our powers at the right moment.
It is not certain if we shall make a gain or a loss;
both accrue unexpectedly; give the matter your
careful thought, then take what steps are necessary.
Add fuel to the fire at the right moment; don’t
over-cook the food; if each man dines separately,
then each one gets which suits him best. Turn up
the field with the plough, harrow it, weed it, make
it smooth. Tuka says, Bring in the sheaves at
last, and store them.
