Tukaram, Poem 3382

Were your enemy to offer you his neck, you
should spare him; you should protect a
suppliant at the risk of your own life. Men of
power swear by reason alone; let the good, there-
fore, reason out what is right and wrong. Tuka
says, By preserving his good name, honour, and
success, does a man attain to God.
