Tukaram, Poem 3226

Our innumerable doctrines are fabrications of
bad swords; by committing them to memory, men
grow voluble. The secret of my Vitthoba is far
removed from them; as long as they are possessed
by the senses of the body, how can Vitthoba enter
them? Sacrifice and penance, thought and things
thought of, fail to reach him.
Tuka says, When
we are weary of the world, we conceive a passion
for him.
