Tukaram, Poem 3011

My writings are blackened with shame, for Thou givest me no peace of mind. How can I feel joyful when no words are uttered? There is no pleasure in a meeting if no love is expressed at it. If a man turns his elbow to another when he meets him, it is easy to see there is but a shred of love left them. What powers I had, I have spent; now I have no skill to act or devise. Mighty art Thou, O God, says Tuka; how can the service of a weak man reach Thee?
