Tukaram, Poem 2955

What a love of the world Thou hast implanted in us! Thou hast given it us for a possession. Thou art cruel, O God! Thou wilt not make us say “Enough of desire!” Thou seest us caught in the chain of actions, but Thou standest apart and wilt not cut it short. Tuka says, In calling Thee mine I feel I have taken a burden upon me in vain.
