Tukaram, Poem 2674

I desired in my heart to be one of the foremost; yet I hung back through shame. I
call joyfully upon Thee, yet even so thou hidest
thyself. Give me my own—what I compassed
by devoted faith, O Stay of the world, says
Tuka, gratify Thy self-willed child!
