Tukaram, Poem 2497

It is well to speak one's true thoughts; a false heart suffers pain unending. Let a man's talk be his own, let him control his mind and make it his witness. A speech cannot be called back again; it may leave long pain behind it. Tuka says, I shrink from the troubles that follow falsehoods; enough now, O God, of lying words.
