Tukaram, Poem 2429

If one started to cross a stream on a float of stones, should he sink in the middle, who would jump in to help him? Do not treat yourself thus, like the moth that throws away his life by plunging into the flame. This is as though a man fully conscious filled a cup with arsenic and drank it, and at the point of death called urgently for a physician. Tuka says, Be advised in time, ere the messenger of Yama comes.
