Tukaram, Poem 2144

A child that is taken from his mother cares nothing for festivities. The Chataka bird drinks not from rivers or from the sea; he waits for the drops from the clouds. All night the lotus dreams of the sunlight. The very life of a chaste wife is news of her husband; the miser’s mind is set on gain. Tuka says, How can I live without Thee?
