Tukaram, Poem 2053

He dearly loves the ignorant, if they have single-minded faith in Him. Upamanya and Dhruva—what did they know? Narayana found a place in the heart of Prahlada. The fisherman, the Bhil, the beast and numberless brutes, they were saved by the sea of mercy. What great wisdom did the poor cowherds possess? The wheel-handed one broke his fast with them. Plain and faithful is our God; we stand, says Tuka, with a firm grip on His feet.
