Tukaram, Poem 1868

If a treasure falls into the hands of a poor man,
he cannot preserve it. Such is my state,
O Narayana, but You know well how to acquire
and to keep. The poor man cannot enjoy or use
or display it; people resent his good luck, the king
declares it forfeited. Tuka says, There is nothing
left for him then but fretting; he pines for the
sight of what once he saw.
