Tukaram, Poem 1828

Cast Thy burden upon God; thou needst not
set forth on long journeys. The body de-
pends on its store of merit; desire increases
suffering. Our own efforts are instrumental
causes; it is our store of merit that bears fruit.
Tuka says, If a man returns to life again, his
breath is wasted in the whirl.
