Tukaram, Poem 1825

It is your store of merit that brings you wealth
and honour; yet you long for these things
unprofitably, O mind of mine! ’Tis your store of
merit that brings you happiness or grief, that fills
your stomach; Tuka does not quarrel with his
fate.
