Tukaram, Poem 1821

A scorpion’s sting brings him trouble;
a man’s evil qualities react on himself. A
man must remember that his mind is either his
friend or enemy. It is for his gentle answers
that a parrot is allowed to play on the bosom.
Tuka says, A he-buffalo is happy; troubles afflict
all creatures according to their kind.
