Tukaram, Poem 1791

I am God, you are God; fear alone intrudes
between us. If men are stout champions of
His, Vitthala comes running after them. I cease
to cry to you, because I am terrified; distance
has broken off our knowledge of each other.
Stand still, says Tuka, turn round and look
upon me.
