Tukaram, Poem 1646

O merciful one, be not angry that I trouble
thee with wicked words and praise Thee too.
What do we know of the limits of Thy nature? We
know not what service to render Thee. O infinite,
unembodied, inconceivable, incapable of falling,
void of attributes, intelligent, supreme! Excellent
are these names which Thou hast assumed; thou hast
made Thyself small to help our devotion. Let me
constantly, says Tuka, lay my head at Thy feet.
