Tukaram, Poem 1574

Seventeen days have passed since I began
to fast, Thou dost not visit me, O Infinite
one! What has come over Thee—Thou hast
shrouded Thyself in adamant! I shall lay down my
life before Thee and charge Thee with the murder.
O mother Vitthal, I have hoped for too much;
I will take away my life, O Panduranga! Tuka
says, This will be my last effort; I will cast
my life into the Chandrabhaga.
