Tukaram, Poem 1567

How can I praise Thee or in whose presence?
A liar’s words deserve not to be repeated; he
leaves behind him nothing but an error, which is
pleasing outside alone. We have no badge of him
whose servants we call ourselves; our shame and
disgrace go steadily forward. Tuka says, What is
become of Thy face and mine? I do but hector
men when I praise thee.
