Tukaram, Poem 1406

To control my senses, this world would not have fettered me. Why should I have called myself a servant of Thine? I should have been wholly unconcerned with Thee. Through fear of the world I clung to thy skirt.
If Thou fulfillest not my wishes, where is thy greatness? If the senses could guard themselves, where would be thy greatness, says Tuka?
