Tukaram, Poem 1199

The belly with its disguises and its clamorous
outcries sets us on praise and censure. Mat-
ted hair and ashes are a scandal when the mind
has neither patience nor forbearance; they are like
a decorated corpse, a dead and lifeless body. Tuka
says, I speak of one who is passionate and goes on
talking folly.
