Tukaram, Poem 1078

If a flower is fragrant, that is no reason to crush it in our hands; if a child is handsome, that is no reason to eat him. If a pearl is lustrous, that is no reason to lick it; if we hear a musical instrument, we must not open it to find the source of the sound. If the past has made us what we are, we must not pursue pleasure. Tuka says, Let us show the secret truth to mankind.
