Tukaram, Poem 998

We have to suffer mountains of sorrow; every body knows it; yet men neglect their own advantage, they utter not the name of Hari. Our comforts in the present tell us what our past lives were like—good, bad or middling. Tuka says, If you close your eyes now, you will know what you have to meet when it is dealt out to you.
