Tukaram, Poem 400

I eschew the life of him who has a weak
patron; death were better for him! Listen,
O God; this is proper, that you should protect
what is right. It were better to be the dog of one
whose words are feared throughout the land.
Tuka says, Why have I made these suggestions?
You, who know the heart, ought to recognize the
reason.
