Tukaram, Poem 172

We hear it said that Janairdana lives in mankind; how is it we fail to perceive this? Who is it that passes through birth, age and death, through pain and disease? Guilt and merit, conduct pure and impure, who is it that has taken these on himself and why? We die and pass away; but not so Thou; how shall we assure ourselves of this? Tuka says, Do Thou unfold this mystery and show me the truth.
