1. A canticle of a psalm for David himself.
2. My heart is ready, O God, my heart is ready: I will sing, and will give praise, with my glory.
3. Arise, my glory; arise, psaltery and harp: I will arise in the morning early.
4. I will praise Thee, O Lord, among the people: and I will sing unto Thee among the populations.
5. For Thy mercy is great above the heavens: and Thy truth even unto the clouds.
6. Be Thou exalted, O God, above the heavens, and Thy glory over all the earth:
7. That Thy beloved may be delivered. Save with Thy right hand and hear me.
8. God hath spoken in His holiness. I will rejoice, and I will divide Sichem and I will mete out the vale of tabernacles.
9. Galaad is mine, and Manasses is mine and Ephraim the protection of my head. Juda is my king:
10. Moab the pot of my hope. Over Edom I will stretch out my shoe: the aliens are become my friends.
11. Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?
2. My heart is ready, O God, my heart is ready: I will sing, and will give praise, with my glory.
3. Arise, my glory; arise, psaltery and harp: I will arise in the morning early.

12. He humbled their heart by suffering;
they sank down, and there was none to help them.
13. In their distress they cried unto Yahweh,
and He saved them from their anguish.
14. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death,
and brake their chains.
15. Let them praise Yahweh for His goodness,
and for His wonders toward the children of men.
16. For He hath broken the gates of brass
and cut in pieces the bars of iron.
17. Fools! by their sinful course,
and by their iniquities, they had brought suffering upon themselves.
18. Their soul abhorred all manner of food,
and they drew near unto the gates of death.
19. In their distress they cried unto Yahweh,
and He saved them from their anguish.
20. He sent His word and healed them,
and delivered them from their graves.
21. Let them praise Yahweh for His goodness,
and for His wonders toward the children of men!
they sank down, and there was none to help them.
13. In their distress they cried unto Yahweh,
and He saved them from their anguish.

20. He sent His word and healed them,
and delivered them from their graves.
21. Let them praise Yahweh for His goodness,
and for His wonders toward the children of men!
22. Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving,
and publish His works with joyful cries!
23. They had gone down to the sea in ships,
to trade upon the vast waters:
24. — these saw the works of Yahweh,
and His wonders in the midst of the deep —
25. He spoke, and raised a tempestuous wind,
which lifted up the waves of the sea.
26. They mounted up to the heavens, they sank down into the depths;
their soul fainted in anguish.
27. Seized with dizziness, they staggered like a drunken man,
and all their wisdom was brought to nought.
28. In their distress they cried unto Yahweh,
and He delivered them from their anguish.
29. He changed the hurricane into a gentle breeze,
and the waves of the sea were hushed.
30. They rejoiced when they saw them calm,
and Yahweh brought them to the desired haven.
31. Let them praise Yahweh for His goodness,
and for His wonders in behalf of the sons of men!
and publish His works with joyful cries!

31. Let them praise Yahweh for His goodness,
and for His wonders in behalf of the sons of men!
32. Let them exalt Him in the assembly of the people,
and praise Him in the council of the elders!
33. He changed rivers into desert,
and springs of water into arid ground;
34. Fertile land into a salt plain,
because of the wickedness of its inhabitants.
35. He made the desert a pool of water,
and the arid land a place full of springs.
36. He settled the hungry there,
and they founded a city to dwell in.
37. They sowed fields and planted vineyards,
and gathered abundant harvests.
38. He blessed them, and they multiplied greatly,
and He did not let their flocks diminish.
39. They had been reduced to few and brought low,
under the weight of calamity and suffering.
40. He had poured shame upon their princes,
and made them wander in trackless deserts.
41. But He raised the needy out of misery,
and made their families like flocks.
and praise Him in the council of the elders!

42. The upright see it and rejoice,
and all the wicked close their mouths.
43. Let him who is wise heed these things,
and understand the loving-kindnesses of Yahweh!
and all the wicked close their mouths.
43. Let him who is wise heed these things,
and understand the loving-kindnesses of Yahweh!
