Psalms, chapter 74

1. Unto the end, corrupt not, a psalm of a canticle for Asaph.
2. We will praise Thee, O God: we will praise, and we will call upon Thy name. We will relate Thy wondrous works:
3. When I shall take a time, I will judge justices.
4. The earth is melted, and all that dwell therein: I have established the pillars thereof.
5. I said to the wicked: Do not act wickedly: and to the sinners: Lift not up the horn.
6. Lift not up your horn on high: speak not iniquity against God.
7. For neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the desert hills:
8. For God is the judge. One he putteth down, and another he lifteth up:
9. We see not our signs any more;
there is no longer any prophet,
and none among us who knoweth how long…
10. How long, O God, shall the oppressor insult,
shall the enemy blaspheme Thy name continually?
11. Why withdrawest Thou Thy hand and Thy right hand?
Draw it forth from Thy bosom, and destroy them!
12. Yet God is my King from of old,
He Who hath wrought so many deliverances upon the earth.
13. It is Thou Who didst divide the sea by Thy power,
Thou Who didst break the heads of the monsters in the waters.
14. It is Thou Who didst crush the heads of Leviathan,
and gavest him for food to the people of the wilderness.
15. It is Thou Who didst make the spring and the torrent gush forth,
Thou Who didst dry up rivers that fail not.
16. Thine is the day, Thine is the night;
it is Thou Who didst create the moon and the sun.
17. Thou hast set all the bounds of the earth;
summer and winter, Thou hast established them.
18. Remember: the enemy revileth Yahweh,
a foolish people blasphemeth Thy name!
19. Deliver not the soul of Thy turtledove unto the beasts,
forget not for ever the life of Thy poor.
20. Have regard unto Thy covenant! for all the corners of the land
are full of habitations of violence.
21. Let not the oppressed return confounded,
let the afflicted and the poor bless Thy name!
22. Arise, O God, plead Thine own cause;
remember the reproaches which the fool uttereth against Thee every day.
23. Forget not the clamour of Thine adversaries,
the ever-increasing insolence of them that hate Thee.
